dental technology at creekside

Technology is an important part of a good dental office. Hygienists and dentists can use advanced tools to improve the ability to discover problems, as well as to provide top-level oral health management and treatment for dental concerns.

Creekside Family Dental is a modern office. We use the latest technology to give our patients the best dental diagnostics, care and treatment possible.

What Type of Technology Does Your Office Use?

We use dental technology within diagnostics and treatments. Here are the main tools our office uses for our patients:

Digital X-rays

During one of your biannual exams each year, our office takes digital X-rays of your teeth, gums and mouth. We may also take X-rays at other times if needed. Digital X-rays provide clearer imaging than the X-rays of the past. They are also safer, as they expose patients to much less radiation.

This technology gives us a full view inside your teeth and gums, so we can see problems that may be present. These could include cavities, decay or infection. It also allows our team to zoom in to gain an improved view of each part of the mouth. Through crisper, more detailed results, modern digital X-rays help improve diagnostics and therefore prevention and treatment of dental problems.

Digital Impressions

Our office uses a 3Shape scanner that creates digital impressions of your mouth. This technological development gives us a more modern and advanced method of capturing the size and shape of your teeth, mouth and bite.

We use this technology to replace the previous method of taking impressions in the office. The process of creating molds was messy and uncomfortable, while these scanners provide a quick, simple and painless process. We also gain more accuracy through 3D digital scans that capture every minor detail of your mouth.

Intraoral Camera

Our office has an intraoral camera, which is a slim camera that fits inside your mouth. Our team can hold and move it around to gain high-quality images within your mouth. The digital images that are created can transfer to our screen, allowing our dentist to get a better look and providing images for our patients to see. This medical technology gives us a clearer view of various dental problems, such as swollen gums or damaged teeth.

CAD-CAM

The term CAD-CAM refers to computer software we use within our dentistry practice to offer our patients higher quality service. The acronym stands for computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM). We use this software to create custom-fitted restorations, such as crowns, bridges, veneers, partial dentures and full dentures.

When our team uses scanning to develop digital impressions of your mouth, we then use CAD-CAM software to help us design the specific restoration using the images. These images are sent to a lab, which also uses this software to help create your restoration with a machine.

This software makes the process of taking impressions and turning them into restorations faster and easier, which benefits both dental professionals and our patients. This advancement in dentistry also helps us create more accurate restorations that are perfectly fitted to your mouth.
